1979 FASA-Renault 12TS

While Fiat has a well-known connection with Spain, Renault also developed a close relationship with the country and went through a phase of producing vehicles specifically for the Spanish market.

From 1951 to 2000, FASA (Fabricación de Automóviles Sociedad Anónima de Valladolid) produced several family cars at their Valladolid and Palencia plants, including this higher-spec version of the R12. The core differences are mostly details but the C-Pillar vents, improved seats, boot handle and dual headlamps give the design a little more plushness than the French versions.

Not likely to have seen much in terms of exports, production is believed to have continued until 1983, outliving the original French version by three years. Imported into the UK several years ago but not registered until 2018, it is undergoing a sympathetic renovation.
